William Hector Dorsett, 73, of Rancho Viejo, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 19, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
William was born to William Dorsett and Esther Gonzalez in Port Isabel, Texas on November 3, 1946. William graduated from Brownsville High School in 1965 and served in the United States Navy from 1967-1970, which included two Mediterranean cruises on the U.S.S. Independence. William married Virginia Paparella in Elmont, NY on April 25, 1970. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1974 and Masters in Business Administration in 1978 from St. Johns University in Queens, NY. As he was completing his M.B.A., he worked for Shell Oil in New York, which soon after took him to Sterling, VA for three years. In 1980, William took a sales position with a semi-conductor manufacturer in Houston and spent the next 30 years in the industry working for several companies, moving to Austin, and then eventually back to near his place of birth in Rancho Viejo, TX in 1999. Back in south Texas, William was able to more fully pursue some of his interests including fishing, hunting, golfing and spending time with his friends and extended family. He also served his local community as an Alderman for the city of Rancho Viejo in 2006, serving a four year term.
William loved to travel. After retiring, William and Virginia traveled extensively, including many trips with his children and grandchildren. His favorite destination was walking El Camino de Santiago in Spain, visiting churches and meeting other international travelers.
William was preceded in death by his parents William and Esther and is survived by his loving wife Virginia Ann Dorsett, children; Christopher James Dorsett (Jennifer Ann Chase) of Austin, TX, Courtney John Dorsett (Stacy Long Dorsett) of The Colony, TX, and Gregory Joel Dorsett of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren; Michael, Connor, Sam, Ellie, Isaac, Biza, Alastair, Evy, Adriana and Callum.
A memorial service will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Treviño Funeral Home.
