Jose Garza entered into eternal life on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the age of eighty-four.
“Joe” as we knew him along with his fellow Knights of Columbus; was born to Domingo and Guadalupe B. Garza in 1936. All his life he lived in the Valley especially Brownsville, Texas where he retired from many years of service as a loan officer in a finance company. He showed his leadership by being active in Knights of Columbus as a Grand Knight and the mens’ club at his church Our Lady of Good Council. His hobbies include bowling, golf, fishing and most important spending time with family and friends. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Candelaria V. Garza; a granddaughter Bianca Castañeda and is survived by his loving children Oralia Rico and Isidro, Jose Garza Jr. and Dolores, Mariana Garza, Guadalupe Garza, Domingo Garza and Susana, Rodolfo Garza and Claudia, Irene Culver and George, Margarita Castañeda and Cesar and Juan Garza and Liza. Also, to treasure many memories are his forty-four grandchildren, twenty-eight grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020 with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the North Chapel of Treviño Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 with a mass scheduled 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Council Church located at 1055 Military Road in Brownsville, Texas 78520. Services will conclude; to respect his wishes, cremation will follow.
