1925 Virginia 2017

Virginia Olivares

July 26, 1925 — August 28, 2017

Virginia Padron Olivares, 92, went to be with our lord on August 28, 2017 at her residence.
She was a native of Brownsville, Texas and spent her last five years living with her daughter on South Padre Island, TX.

After graduating from high school, Virginia worked at the Cameron County Courthouse in Brownsville as a typist for attorneys. She left the work force to start a family. When her children were in grade school, Virginia was very active as a room mother and PTA member. She later returned to work at the Cameron County Tax Office, later with Tipton Motor Company, and found her calling as a bookkeeper for the Brownsville Independent School District at Porter High School from 1976 to her retirement of 20 years. She enjoyed her time interacting with sponsors and students. It was not unusual to meet teachers or students who would always convey that Virginia man not have been a teacher but taught them so much. Virginia was a home owners association president at the Courtyard Condominiums. In 1990, Virginia was Ladies Auxiliary Program Chairperson of the first ‘Voice of Democracy" program sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2035 for 5 years. She became a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

To my Mom- For all the times you took the time, for all the sacrifices you've made, and for all the wonderful memories you've given our family….your selflessness, giving and love lives forever in the hearts and lives of your friends, siblings, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Safe Haven Hospice staff and special thanks to Leonel, Med Team inc., Dr. M. Raguthu and staff. Heartfelt thanks to caregivers Diana Hernandez and Era Penn. They took care of our mother with enormous love, care and respect for which the family will always be eternally grateful.
