Sara Castro Gutierrez, 84, went to her eternal rest on September 26, 2015.
She was born on July 7, 1931. She and Sebastian Quintero Gutierrez married in 1955 and were wed 29 years. They have 3 wonderful children: Guadalupe, Sebastian Jr. and Adela.
Sara worked for Tradewinds Shrimp Packing Company in the heart of Brownsville's Port for 15 years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, trips to the beach and taking care of her family. She was known for her delicious, homemade cooking. Sara was, above all, a devout Christian and attended Iglesia de Cristo on Tyler St.
She was preceded in death by parents Manuela and Pedro Castro, and siblings Juanita Campos, Pedro Castro and Guadalupe Castro.
She is survived by six siblings: Francisco Castro, Santos Castro, Erasmo Castro, Manuela Salinas, Elida Gomez and Teresa Castro. Her three children: Guadalupe and daughter in law Maria E. Gutierrez, Sebastian Jr. and daughter in law Esmeralda Gutierrez and Adela Gutierrez and partner Wanda Lynn Roberts. Seven grandchildren: Sebastian Gutierrez III, Samantha A. Gutierrez-Huereca, Rebecca L. Gutierrez, Renée R. Gutierrez, Matthew J. Gutierrez, Sylvester D. Gutierrez and Vivian N. Gutierrez. Four great-grandchildren: Natelie R. Wilcox, Sylvester A. Gutierrez Jr., Emmett S. Gutierrez and Alejandro J. Huereca.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the South Chapel of Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral will be Thursday, October 1st, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the South Chapel following interment at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
