Sabino Salinas , 76, of Brownsville, Texas passed away on Sunday October 31, 2010 at Solara Hospital.
Mr. Salinas retired from the University Of Texas Brownsville after many years of service as a carpenter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Salinas was given the talent of carpentry just like his Savior Jesus Christ, his passion in life was being family oriented and his hobby was playing the accordion. He organized his own conjunto which was named Los Conquistadores. In his lifetime he was invited to play at the Smithsonian Institute in 1983.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cirildo and Gregoria Y. Salinas 5 siblings and his first wife Josefa T. Salinas.
He is survived by his wife Rosario Salinas 6 daughters, Alma M. Salinas, Norma J. Salinas Alvear, Elizabeth N. Ramon Quintana, Dr. Sandra D. Ricardo OlivaresGarcia, Dubelsa O. Rene Parkin, Magda A. Soyka 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren 1 sister, Florence Barron, nieces and nephews.
Military honors are under the direction of Commander Joe Lucio and the VFW Post 2035.
Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Olivares, Isaac Olivares, Michael A. Salinas, Dominic Quintana, Michael Quintana, Raul Torres, Maya Garcia , Jenavette Alvear.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. on Monday November 1, 2010 at Trevino Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday November 2, 2010 at Christ The King Catholic Church . Interment to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
