Roger Leon Watson, 73 of Brownsville, Texas died on May 30, 2014 at Sunshine Haven in Olmito, Texas.
He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 16, 1940 to Leon C. and Mildred L. Watson.
He served his country in the Army from 1958 to 1961. Thats when he met, and married his loving wife, of 52 years, Carol Watson. He earned his Batchelors Degree in education and moved to Brownsville in 1972. While he was in Brownsville, he was not only a teacher, but he was also a basketball coach and a boy scout leader. He also served as a deacon for the First Presbyterian Church in Brownville. He was easy going and always willing to lend a hand when he was asked.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Clifton Watson, and Mildred Laverne Watson, and his sister, Beverly Pritchard.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol Lee Watson his son, Gregory Allen Watson of Denver, Colorado his daughter, Jennifer Kay Ochoa Eddie and two grandsons, Nicholas Cesar Ochoa and Christopher Esiquiel Ochoa, all from Brownsville.
We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Acclaim home health for providing care takers, Wally Cisneros, who has been instrumental in helping us get the help we needed, Sunshine Haven for caring for him during his last days, Dalia Zamora, and Sylvia Mejia who have tirelessly cared for him for many years during his illness.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Sunshine Haven in Olmito, Texas or to The First Presbyterian Church of Brownsville. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
