Rebecca Welsh

Rebecca Maurice Achard Welsh, 65 years of age entered into the eternal kingdom and eternal life on July 20, 2011. Miss Rebecca was born on May 26, 1946 in Lakeland, Florida.

She is survived by her Son Charles Maurice Welsh, Cousins Janet Goree, Sharon Atkinson, Frank McMahen and many Elk family members and was preceded in death by her Parents Thomas Achard and Elizabeth McMahen Achard, her Beloved Husband John Jack Welsh, her Uncles Samuel McMahen and Cowles McMahen. Rebecca was a proud Texan and an avid diehard Dallas Cowboy fan for many years. She enjoyed watching the Cowboys play surrounded by her loving friends and family the Elks lodge. She had memorabilia galore and bled silver and blue. To her it didnt matter if they won or lost, she still rooted for them. She will be wathching the Cowboys from Heaven through that retractable roof at Cowboys Stadium. She accomplished so many things in life such as earning many college degrees and was employed by Montgomery Ward for many years, she was a member of the West Brownsville Garden Club where she is credited as an amazing artist when designing floral arrangements. She was also an active member of the VFW Post 2035 Ladies Auxillary where she served as the groups first Treasurer and later became President. The members will have a brief ceremony the graveside service. She was an active member of the Elks Lodge 1032 for many years and volunteered many hours for the Elks Children Foundation and Special Needs Children. Rebecca managed the office the Brownsville Art League Neale House for sometime. She enjoyed watercoloring, and spent her lunch hour sitting around the tables visiting and discussing the artwork everyone was working on, politics, or just the events of the day. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her personally and by all the members of the BAL who were fortunate enough to be acquainted with her. Serving as her Pallbearers will be David Lopez, Willie Gonzales, Joe Soto, Roy de los Santos, Larry Green, John Sevier, Richard Wise, and Chris Garza. Honorary Pallbearers will be: David and Debbie Musso, Roy and June Turner, Dillon Vanderford, Al Snyder, Harry Neddles, Bobby Ruiz, and Julie Arellano.

A graveside service is scheduled in memory of our beloved Rebecca on Thursday, July 28, 2011 10:00am at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd. Brownsville, Texas 78521.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Brownsvilles Elks Children Foundation 9565423545.
