On the 28th of April, 2008, Raquel Rashell Cuevas Torres, was called into the Lords Kingdom at the wonderful age of 45. She was surrounded by her loyal family and friends, after her long battle with cancer.
Born in Brownsville, she graduated from Homer Hanna High School in the class of 1981 where she met her lifelong friends. Shortly thereafter, she pursued her Phlebotomy license and practiced her special way of caring for in
iduals, especially in their time of sickness. As a lab technician, she met numerous special friends and acquaintances of whom she became closest of confidants.
Rashell will be especially remembered for her dedication to the educational raising of her nephew, Julian Torres, where she helped with the responsibility of teaching and tutoring him.
Friends descriptions have said she was extremely fun to be around, and was found always smiling and in good spirits. She was still making people laugh and smile even as her cancer worsened. Her caring spirit showed tending to others even when she was worse off. She was extremely generous when others needed. Rashells loving and caring personality will always be missed. The memory of her laughter will always remain with those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ramon Torres, grandmother, Maria Enfemia Torres, and a brother, Master Chief Jesus Torres.
She is survived by her mother, Maria G. Torres, daughter, Maesha Cuevas, brothers, Juan Torres, Raymond Torres, Jose Torres, Manuel Torres, and Jose Guadalupe Torres and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 with a recitation of the holy rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008 at St. Lukes Catholic Church with interment to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
