Rafael Alfredo Gonzalez, Sr., 83, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, January 18, 2011 at Valley Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Gonzalez was born on October 24, 1927 in Brownsville and was a lifelong resident and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired after serving over 25 years from Central Motor Supply. Mr. Gonzalez was a devoted husband, great father, son, brother and grandfather. He devoted unselfishly to the service of his country in the US Army.
He was preceded in death by parents Alfredo and Juanita Gonzalez, brothers Jesus Gonzalez, Manuel Gonzalez and soninlaw Ludim Guerrero.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years of marriage, Rosario Gonzalez of Brownsville, TX, daughters Leticia Alfonso Gonzalez of Brownsville, TX, Diana G. Guerrero of Laredo, TX, sons Rafael Gonzalez, Jr., of Brownsville, TX, Carlos J. Claudia R. Gonzalez of Laredo, TX, brother Jose Hugo Joe H. Maria Gonzales and 7 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2011 at Trevino Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Buena Vista Burial Park.
Pallbearers will be Joe H. Gonzales, Carlos J. Gonzalez, Alfonso Gonzalez, Ludim Guerrero, Jr., Alfonso Michael Gonzalez and Guadalupe Garcia. Honorary pallbearer will be Rafael Gonzalez, Jr.
