Rachel Viscaino Martinez, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on October 4,2024, in Brownsville, Texas, at the age of 79. She was born on July 16, 1945, to her loving parents Joaquin and Seferina Viscaino, lived a life filled with kindness and care, touching the hearts of many with her gentle spirit.
Rachel was best known for her unwavering devotion to her family and her love of attending church, where she found solace and joy in her faith. She brightened every gathering with her warm smile and gracious demeanor, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joel Martinez; her son, David (Alejandra) Martinez, and her cherished granddaughter, Camilia Martinez. Rachel also leaves behind her dear sisters, Rebecca (Santiago) Abrego and Eva (Frank) Peterson, along with her brother, Moses (Lety) Viscaino. A treasured aunt, she is survived by her nieces Luz, Michelle (Abram) , Laura, Patricia (Michael), Bennie, Zoe and Ava, as well as her nephews Joaquin A., Michael (Alyssa), David, and Joaquin C. all of whom held her in the highest regard.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Joaquin and Seferina Viscaino†, her sister Mercedes Viscaino†, and two brothers, David and Benjamin Viscaino†. Though they are no longer with her, their memories remain as a testament to a life well-lived and deeply loved.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation at Trevino Funeral Home, located at 1355 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on October 9, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial Service from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. May she rest in eternal peace, forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
