Pedro Garza, a beloved figure in his family, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on December 4, 1935, in Brownsville, Texas, Pedro was known for his humor, strong character, and an unwavering commitment to his family.

Pedro is survived by his loving wife, Hilda Yolanda Garza. Pedro is survived by his three children, Pedro Garza Jr., Rosalinda Garza, Adela G. Valdez (Tony) and his stepson, Omar Alejandro Bustos (Rossy). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Gabriel Rico, Yvonne Valdez, Michael Valdez, Samantha Valdez, Omar Bustos Jr., Santiago Bustos “Vale,” Melissa Bustos, Brittany Bustos, Shaila and America Bustos, and Javier Bustos, who were a constant source of joy for him. Pedro was also a proud great-grandfather to Holly, Lina, Roxanna, and Rosario. Pedro is also survived by his two brothers, Ambrosio S. Garza and Ben Garza, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Liobardo and Irene Huantes and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Josefina Fuentes Garza; his parents, Benancio and Petra Garza; his sister, Guadalupe Torres; and his brother, Norberto Cantu.

Pedro moved to Albion, Michigan in 1959 and worked at the Albion Malleable Iron Company for 30 years. He retired at the age of 55 and returned to his roots in Brownsville to be with his family.

Pedro's warmth and wisdom left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was passionately supporting his Detroit Lions (football) and Tigers (baseball) or sharing moments at downtown coffee shops with friends. He was a man defined by his love for his family, his laughter, and his generous spirit.

Pedro's life will be honored through a series of services at Trevino Funeral Home-Old Port Isabel Rd., in Brownsville, TX. Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. The next day, March 24, visitation will resume from 8:15 AM until 1:00 PM, with a Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 2:00 PM. Pedro will then be laid to rest at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens at 3:00 PM.
