Maria Del Refugio Villanueva

Maria Del Refugio Villanueva entered into eternal life on Monday, February 10, 2020 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of ninety-one.

Maria Del Refugio was born to Wistano Garza and Tita Cruz Garza in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico in 1928. She became a Brownsville resident at a very young age and made it her home. She was a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. It was very important for her to attend to family, spend quality time, always feed everyone and share many memories. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Enrique S. Villanueva; a granddaughter Leticia del Jesus Hermosillo, Maria Magdalena Garza and is survived by her three loving children Leticia and Jose Hermosillo, Enrique and Maria R. Villanueva and Eduardo and Nilda Villanueva. Also, to treasure many memories are her siblings; Leticia Garza vda. de Alvardo, Enrique and Delia Garza, Raul and Griselda Garza; a sister-in-law Dolores Luz Villanueva vda. de Flores; twelve grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the North Chapel of Trevi؜ño Funeral Home. Visitation resumes from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled 2 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020 at St. Luke Catholic Church. Services will conclude; to respect her wishes, cremation will follow.
