In Loving Memory of Maria Isabel Vega
With deep sorrow and profound love, we announce the passing of Maria Isabel Vega on March 11, 2025, at the age of 75.
Fondly known as Guera, she was the embodiment of love—offering warmth, kindness, and compassion to everyone she met. Her heart was always open, her arms always ready to embrace, and her words always filled with encouragement and care.
Born on March 26, 1949, in Brownsville, Texas. She was a BISD elementary teacher for several years. Guera lived a life devoted to loving others. Whether through her unwavering support for family and friends, her gentle words of wisdom, or her endless acts of kindness, she made the world a better place simply by being in it. To know Guera was to be loved unconditionally, and her presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who were blessed to cross her path.
She is survived by her daughter: Ina Isa Gomez (Juan Alberto), siblings: Raquel Taylor (James), Enrique Solana (Kathleen), and Ina Luisa Perez (Javier). She leaves behind a legacy of family, including two grandchildren: Vivianna Mireya Whitworth (Adrian Leos) and Ethan Nicolas Gomez, two great-granddaughters: Alayah and Ailani Leos, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who will cherish her memory.
Guera is preceded in death by her loving parents: Enrique Solana and Raquel Figueroa Solana, sister: Bertha Tumlinson and her son: Estanislao Sol Vega.
Guera was greatly beloved, and her love extended far beyond family. Her kindness, laughter, and generosity will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Though she is no longer with us, her love remains—woven into the lives of those she touched.
A service to celebrate Guera’s life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Trevino’s Funeral Home on 1355 Old Port Isabel Road in Brownsville, Texas. The service will be from 3pm to 7pm with a memorial service at 5pm. In honor of her loving spirit, the family requests that you honor Guera by spreading kindness in your own way.
