Maria de Jesus Soto, 60, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, entered into the glory of her eternal life on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by her loving family.
Mari, as she was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Mari was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to travel and just before her passing had taken a trip into Mexico with her daughter and one of her sons and his family. Mari loved to play Bingo and Chalupa. Mari was a strong woman who was always there to lend a helping hand. For the ten years if her health allowed her, Mari and her sons would operate a Mexican Antojito food stand during Charro Days. They also did the same at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Kermes for the past four years. Mari was a devout Catholic and attended Mass on a regular basis at the Cathedral.
Mari was deeply loved and will be dearly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.
Mari is preceded in death by her parents, Sophia Aguero and Fabian Aguilar and a brother, Adolfo Aguero.
Mari is survived by her four sons: Mauricio and his wife Brenda, Luis and his wife Bertha, Hector and his wife Dianne, and Jose Antonio Soto and her only daughter and princess, Elizabeth Mharie Soto. Mari will also be missed by her sister, Josefina and her husband Eduardo Villasenor and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017, in the North Chapel at Trevino Funeral Home with a rosary scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Friday evening. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St. All services will conclude after the Mass and in accordance with Mari's wishes, cremation will follow.
