On September 23, 2018, our beautiful mother, Maria R. Garcia, 95 years young peacefully entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family.
Mom was born on February 3, 1923 in Francitas, Texas, one of thirteen children, to Maria Cristina and Marcelino Ramirez. She married our father, Rafael Garcia on August 4, 1944 and raised 13 children.
Mom is preceded in death by her parents, our daddy, first born/daughter, Alicia G. Salazar, and sons, Richard (Irma) Garcia and Rodolfo Garcia. Survivors include Rafael (Anita), Joaquin (Ninfa), Robert (Angie), Raquel Hendrix (Marvin), Ma Dolores Breeden (Doug +), Diana Clark (Robb), Tony (Lisa), Ma Guadalupe Garza (Sergio), Benito (Ambrose), Ma Cristina Del Campo (John), 28 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and one sister, Maria Guadalupe Ramirez from Washington.
Mom was the driving force and disciplinarian in our family. Her "can-do" attitude, strong will, determination and unwavering faith is what kept her young at heart. Mom's talents were many: math whiz, outstanding seamstress, great cook, fantastic dance teacher and dance partner to her sons. Mom made sure we got a great education - no excuses. She kept us involved in sports, band, cheerleading, CCD, Girl and Boy Scouts, and daily chores. She held positions in PTA, band boosters, scouts, CCD teacher, Guadalupana and volunteered at local elections.
Her love of God, country, family, and zest for life was instilled in all of us. "No Se Rajen" was her advice at her 95th birthday celebration and "Que Dios los bendiga a todos".
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the North Chapel of Trevino Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held at San Eugenio de Mazenod Church 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Rite of committal will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
