Maria Lara

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Maria Del Socorro Lara, born on August 09, 1941, died on Sunday, December 09, 2018 at her residence in Brownsville, Texas. She was seventy-seven years old.

Maria was an avid gardener. She was very created of ornamental plants that were grown for decorative purposes in gardens and landscaping design projects and houseplants. She loved all of children and she will be missed greatly.

Her dear and loving husband, Felix Lara, Jr., preceded her in death on February 06 of this year, 2018. Also preceding her in death is their son, Felix Lara III; and her parents, Candelario Gonzalez, Lupita Gonzalez and Julia Gonzalez.

Survivors include her sons, Eduardo Lara and Gerardo Lara; daughters Maria del Socorro Lara, Margarita Lara Fasci, and Belinda Lara Stephens; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are her siblings; Romana "Chana" Castro, Longino Gonzalez, Olivia Silvas, Juanita Cardenas, Julia Salazar, Maria "Candie" Cantu; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visiting hours are on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, beginning at twelve o'clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o'clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Tuesday evening within the Trevino Funeral Home North Chapel.

Funeral services will commence on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at two o'clock in the afternoon, in Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 2255 Southmost Boulevard, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526.
