Maria Elena Gomez

It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. Maria Elena Gomez entered into eternal rest on June 4th, 2026, at the age of eighty-one years old. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

She was a Brownsville resident for most of her life. She worked over twenty years in B & T Laundry Mat and faithfully attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her family was important to her and the get-togethers to be treasured. She loved playing with her grandchildren and spending quality time with family. She had the greatest “green-thumb”.

Maria Elena is preceded in death by her parents; Euostolio Gonzales, Savina Cruz de Gonzales; a grandson, Peter Gomez II, four brothers; Donaciano Gonzales, Trinidad Gonzales, Joaquin Gonzales, Luis Gonzales, her two sisters; Elvira Flores, Isabel Vera and a daughter-in-law, Regina Ray Gomez.

Family survived to treasure many memories is Maria Elena’s husband of sixty-one years of marriage is Ruben Gomez, their two sons; Richard Ruben (Edna Irene) Gomez and Peter (+ Regina Ray) Gomez, grandson, Nicholas Richard (Gabriella) Gomez; two granddaughters; Madison Marie (Isaac) Herrera, Amanda Michelle Gomez; Maria Elena’s siblings; Felipa (+Jesus) Sandoval, Ismael (Elida) Gonzlez, brother Macario (+Gloria) Gonzales and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Please join the family for the visitation which is scheduled from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, June 11th, 2026 with a holy Rosary at 7 pm at Trevino Funeral Home, located at 1355 Old Port Isabel Rd. in Brownsville, Texas 78521 and (956) 542-2583.

Visitation resumes on Friday, June 12th, 2026 at 10 am to 1 pm with a funeral mass at 2 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 555 W. St. Francis Street in Brownsville, Texas 78520.

Burial will be at Buena Vista Burial Park at 3 pm.
