Maria Isabel Chavela Calderon, 58, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013, in Houston, Texas surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 19, 1955, to the late Estella Calderon and Ismael Garcia.

Maria was born and raised in Brownsville by the late Victoria M. Calderon, where she attended Brownsville High School and lived there until the birth of her first daughter, Janifer. In 1975, she relocated to Houston, Texas where she spent the rest of her natural life. In 1982, she gave birth to a son, Cesar, and worked at the Family Dollar Corporation for over 21 years as a loved colleague and friend.

In 1983, she met the love of her life, Jose L. Gonzalez, and they began their lives together in 1984, they welcomed a daughter, Victoria.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Estella MorenoCalderon, two brothers, Johnny Herrera of San Benito, Texas and Amador Rivera of Brownsville, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Luis Gonzalez of Houston, Texas three children, Janifer Lucas of Houston, Texas, Cesar Calderon of Houston, Texas, Victoria Calderon Mellissa Ward of Fort Lewis, Washington one brother, Teodoro Rivera Ida of San Antonio, Texas one sister, Mary Socorro Garza Felipe and one aunt, Aurora Villarreal. She is also survived her four grandchildren, Christian Pea, Christina Calderon, Christoffer Sifuentes and Marcelo Frutis, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 10am to 9pm on Thursday, January 2, 2014, with a Rosary at 7pm at Trevio Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral will be at 10am on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church located 1200 E. Lincoln St., in Brownsville, TX 9565424823. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
