Margarita Esparza Flores, mother, our queen, and the matriarch of our family gained her wings, at the age of 93 years, 7 months, 3 days, of Brownsville, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.
She was preceded in the death by her maternal grandparents Audonia Bazan and Epifanio Herrera; parenteral grandparents Vicente Esparza and Juana Uvalle, her father Antonio Uvalle Esparza and her mother Geronima Herrera Esparza; two brothers Antonio Esparza, Jr., Patricio Esparza, Sr.; one sister Juanita Esparza Carreño; her husband of 45 years of matrimony Apolonio Cavazos Flores, Sr.; two sons, Apolonio Flores, Jr. and Tomas Flores.
Margarita is survived by her two sons; Gabriel, Sr. (Mary Ann De La Rosa) and Abundio (Epifania Loera) Flores; two daughters Gloria Alma Flores and Margarita Flores Lopez (Noe) all of Brownsville, TX. Also, to treasure many memories are her five grandsons; Gabriel Flores, Jr., David Flores, Steven Michael Flores, Andy Flores and Christian Josee Flores; six granddaughters, Maria Luisa “Mary Lou” Tan, Angelica Marie Martinez, Anabel Karina Flores,
Alondra Bianca Loera, Marlene Jeanette Alanis and Paula Alejandra Lopez; nine great-grandchildren that she was always happy to see and loved.
The family is thankful to have been blessed for having a mother who always insisted they attend church. She worked hard as a migrant worker, insisted to earn a great education. She was so caring to her family and made sure they were fed well.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in the North Chapel of Treviño Funeral Home. Visitation resumes from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 with a chapel service to be held at 1 p.m. Rite of committal will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
