Marcelina Alvarez

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Marcelina Alvarez, born on February 26, 1949, died on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of sixty-nine years old.

Marcelina was a dedicated bus driver for over 22 years with the Brownsville Independent School District. She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, gardening, and playing loteria. Marcelina loved being around her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Her parents, Carlos and Eduviges Rocha; and her sister, Beatrice Mendoza, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her only son, Saul Alvarez; daughters, Cynthia Ann Alvarez and Nadia Leonor Alvarez; brother, David E. Contreras; sisters, Simona Esparza (Manuel +) and Lucia Rocha; brother-in-law, Jose Angel Mendoza; and grandchildren Jonathan S. Alvarez, Annie M. Saenz, Essence B. Campbell, Ebony D. Campbell, and Isiah R. Meredith.

Visiting hours are on Sunday, December 30, 2018, beginning at two o'clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o'clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Sunday evening within the Trevino Funeral Home North Chapel.

Funeral services will commence on Monday, December 31, 2018 at twelve o'clock in the afternoon, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 2405 E. Tyler Street, Brownsville, Texas 78520. As per her wishes, all services will conclude at the church and cremation will follow at a later date.
