Manuela L. Chavez, a cherished wife, aunt, and friend, passed away on April 25, 2026, in Brownsville, Texas. She was born on April 1, 1935, in Mexico, and lived a life marked by her caring nature, a great sense of humor, and a commitment to hard work.
Manuela was known for her love of gardening and cooking, passions that brought joy not only to herself but also to those fortunate enough to share in her company. Her tender care nurtured many gardens and filled many homes with delightful aromas, reflecting the warmth and dedication she carried throughout her life.
Her beloved husband, Apolonio Chavez, along with her nieces and nephews, survive her, keeping close the memories of a woman who was both funny and compassionate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Lopez and Inez Arevalo, as well as her brother Jose Rosario Lopez and sister Benita Tejada.
Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Manuela are invited to honor her memory. Visitation will be held at Trevino Funeral Home-Old Port Isabel Rd., located at 1355 Old Port Isabel Rd., in Brownsville, Texas, on April 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary scheduled at 7:00 p.m. The following day, May 1, 2026, visitation will continue from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the same location. A Mass celebrating her life will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, followed by burial at Buena Vista Burial Park beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Manuela’s presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she leaves behind will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. May Manuela rest in eternal peace.

Manuela L. Chavez, una querida esposa, tía y amiga, falleció el 25 de abril de 2026 en Brownsville, Texas. Nació el 1 de abril de 1935 en México y vivió una vida marcada por su naturaleza cariñosa, un gran sentido del humor y un compromiso con el trabajo duro.
Manuela era conocida por su amor a la jardinería y la cocina, pasiones que le traían alegría no solo a ella sino también a quienes tenían la suerte de compartir su compañía. Su tierno cuidado nutrió muchos jardines y llenó muchas casas de aromas deliciosos, reflejando la calidez y dedicación que mantuvo a lo largo de su vida.
Su querido marido, Apolonio Chavez, junto con sus sobrinos, le sobreviven, guardando cerca los recuerdos de una mujer que fue a la vez divertida y compasiva. La precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Pedro López e Inez Arevalo, así como su hermano José Rosario López y su hermana Benita Tejada.
