Luis R. Valenzuela, from Brownsville, Texas, was born on December 3, 1927 and entered into eternal rest and salvation on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the age of 88.
He was a prominent and respected member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and could often be found reading through multitudes of scriptures in order to prepare sermons. He was proud to have dutifully served his country in the United States Army and was always a true patriot. He was a devoted family man with unshakeable faith and with wise words for anyone that knew him. He truly left the world a better place and will be missed dearly.
Mr. Valenzuela is survived by his beloved daughter, Elly Valenzuela, son, Luis Valenzuela Jr., and love of his life, Ludivina.
Preceding him in passing are his sister, Gloria Valenzuela-Cano and his parents Jesus and Rosalva Valenzuela. Also left to cherish many memories are his siblings, Jesus Valenzuela, Rita Valenzuela and numerous nieces, nephews in Mexico City.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 in the South Chapel of Trevino Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2016 in the South Chapel of Trevino Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas.
