Lorenzo Pirrin Ramos , Jr, 80, passed away at Alta Vista Nursing Center , on November 18, 2011. Mr. Ramos was born on September 16, 1931 and was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1968 and retired as a Sergeant Member to the 8th Army Division who served in the Korean war in 1952, was captured as a P.O.W, Escaped and was awarded The Purple Heart. He was also awarded the Korean ribbon, the Presidential Citation and the United Nations ribbon for his heroic actions in combat. He was active member of the Brownsville Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. VFW.
He was preceded in death by his wife Katy Ramos father, Lorenzo Ramos Sr mother, Julia Rodriguez brothers, Jose Ramos, Alberto El Chino Ramos sisters, Ofelia Fela Cano, Dora A. Garcia, Olga R. Arguelles.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Rodriguez grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews sister, Josefa Rocha brother, Ernesto Ramos.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday November 21, 2011 at Trevino Funeral Home and 2nd day visitation will be held on Tuesday November 22, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Holy Rosary to be recited at Trevino Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday November 23, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. A 1p.m. graveside will be at Rio Grande Valley Veteran Cemetery Mission Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rey Ybarra Jr, Alberto Ybarra, Ricardo Ybarra, Roman Ybarra, Feliciano Garcia, Rogelio Rocha. Lorenzo Ramos, David Ramos.
Honorary pallbearers will be Armando Flores Jr and Tino Salas.
