Judith Delgado Gonzalez

November 9, 1952 — November 8, 2025

Brownsville

Judith Delgado Gonzalez entered peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Brownsville, Texas, surrounded by family. Judy was 72 years of age, just a few hours short of her 73rd birthday (November 9).

Judy was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and caregiver. On July 3, 1982, Judy and Joe were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter Erica who brought so much joy and happiness to her life. Judy was known for her kind spirit, her willingness to help, her generosity, and most importantly, her love and devotion to her family and her faith.

Judy attended school in Brownsville, and in 1971 graduated from Villa Maria High School. After graduation, she met the love of her life, Jose P. Gonzalez. They married on November 11, 1972 and moved to Houston, where she worked as a medical assistant. She developed a love for the medical profession, and in 1975, she returned to the Valley and enrolled in Nursing School. After graduation, she began what became a 30 year career providing nursing care to many patients. She not only provided medical care, but her compassion and generosity were evident in the over-and-above acts of kindness to the needs of her patients, often providing clothing and food to those in need. She delighted in making gifts to make others happy! Besides her education in Nursing, she also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Outside of work, Judy dedicated her time to her family and her love for travel. Throughout their marriage, Judy and Joe always enjoyed a standing dinner date. There were many family traditions and rituals that she observed, including get-togethers with her sisters to “keep up” with what was going on with our families and our lives. Christmas was always special. She and her sisters made plans on the activities for Christmas week and Judy always hosted Christmas Day dinner and the popular Bingo game that everyone enjoyed and looked forward to.

She traveled to many places in Mexico and the United States, and always made it a point to include getaways to Las Vegas, her most favorite destination.

Judy is survived by her husband, Jose P. Gonzalez and her daughter, Erica. She is also survived by her sisters Laura (Jim) Gilmore, Annette Delgado, and Alicia (Jim) Roberts, and her sisters-in-law Bertha (Joe) Garcia, Isabel (Guadalupe+) Almaraz, Becky (Elias) Salinas, Guadalupe (Albert) Salinas, and Helen Bernard. She was a cherished Aunt to her nieces and nephews and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael Delgado and Amparo H. Delgado, and her in-laws J.C. Gonzalez and Guadalupe Gonzalez.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home located at 1355 Old Pt. Isabel Rd., Brownsville, Texas 78521.
