Juanita Torres, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, entered eternal rest on August 6, 2025, in Brownsville, Texas, at the age of 87. Born on November 2, 1937, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, Juanita was known for her kind, gentle, and nurturing spirit, always ready to lend a hand to those in need.
Throughout her life, she found joy in singing with her church music choir, nurturing her plants, and preparing delicious meals for her family. Her passion for cooking was well known among her loved ones, making every occasion a cherished memory.
Juanita is survived by her three children, Jorge Torres, Angie Rios, and Reynaldo Torres Jr. (Amanda Ann), along with nine grandchildren: William Michael Torres (Audrey), Jorge Torres Jr., Francisca Marie Carter (Catlin), Vicente Reynaldo Torres, David Thomas Torres, Magdalena Leann Torres, Laura Ashley Ogle, Reynaldo Antonio III Torres (Amanda Grace), and Rhianha Reigh Salazar (Ivan). She was also a proud great-grandmother to 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings: Guadalupe Arriaga (Jose†), Roberto Torres (Maria), Genaro Alejo Jr. (Angelita), and Maria De Jesus Muniz.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Reynaldo Torres, her parents, Genaro Alejo and Maria Dolores Torres, her daughter, Irma Leticia Torres, and her son-in-law, Ruben Cruz Rios.
Her legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered by her family and friends. May Juanita rest in eternal peace.
Visitation for Juanita will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, located at 1355 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78521, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. The following day, an additional visitation will occur from 8:15 AM until 9:15 AM. A Mass will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, located at 1914 Barnard Rd, Brownsville, TX 78520. Juanita will then be laid to rest at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, at 11:00 AM.
