Juanita Barrientes Slovak, 86, of Brownsville passed away on August 30, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Slovak was born on February 28, 1930 in San Benito, Texas to Juan Barrientes and Cruz Esquivel Barrientes. She is remembered as a hard worker, loved working in the garden, being with family, playing BINGO, listening to music, singing and dancing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank William Slovak and a son Steven Slovak; her brother Guadalupe Barrientes; her three sisters Dominga Partida, Anita Partida, Frances Betz and her half-brother Guadalupe Carrillo.
Mrs. Slovak is survived by her children; William Slovak and his wife Gloria, Frank Slovak and his wife Juanita, Mary Perez and her husband Don, David Slovak and his wife Leonarda "Lulu", John Slovak, Cherry Gajowski (Max, deceased), Andrew Slovak and his wife Sandra, Jane Feil and her husband Jeff, Bob Slovak and his wife Alma, Sandra and her husband Diogenes Bochas. Also to cherish many memories are her 31 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers; Juan Barrientes Jr., Juan Jose Barrientes; half-sister Eloisa Barrientes, numerous relatives, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends.
The family wishes to announce a special gratitude to; Dr. Juan M. Martinez, nurse Yoli and his office staff, Sincerity Health with Jaime and Hilda, Unique Home Health, Greater Valley Hospice with Alonso and Henrietta, Cathy, Kelly, Raquel and Norma.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. in the South Chapel of Trevino Funeral Home.
Graveside Service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, September 1st ,2016 at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
