Juana Ybarra

d. February 7, 2015

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother entered her eternal life with the Lord at her residence in Brownsville, Texas on February 7, 2015 surrounded by all her children and her sister Ernestina. Mrs. Ybarra was born on December 27, 1939 in Estacion de la Cruz, Municipio de Hidalgo, Tamaulipas.

Mrs. Ybarra was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Eusebio Ybarra, her parents Modesto Medrano Hernandez, and Genoveva Villanueva Martinez. Also preceding her in death are her daughters Reyna Ybarra, Vivian Ybarra, and Juanita Ybarra, her brothers Nemesio Medrano and Modesto Medrano, and her sister Virginia Medrano who passed away on January 28, 2015.

"Juanita", as she was known by all her friends and all the people that loved her, was an outgoing friendly person and a very dedicated mother. Her children were her pride and joy and she loved them unselfishly. She always made sure that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her top priority. As much as she cherished her family, Juanita also cherished her friendships. Some of her closest friendships included her weekly rosary group and her "Chalupa" friends that include Tere, Juan, Estella, Mali, Lupita, Rosie, and Ester. Juanita's memory will continue to live on in the traditions and delicious cooking recipes that she left with her children.

Left to cherish her memory and miss her dearly are her three sons: Jose (Angelina) Ybarra, Eusebio "Ozzy" (Sandra) Ybarra, Reynaldo (Lily) Ybarra, six daughters: Guadalupe Castillo, Rebecca (Fernando) Cabrera, Rosalinda Ybarra, Yolanda Altamirano, Irma Calderon, and Graciela (Samuel) Chong. She is also survived by her brother Guadalupe Medrano and 2 sisters Ernestina Medrano and Antonia Medrano, 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held yesterday from 9 a.m. through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in the North Chapel of Trevino Funeral Home, 1355 Old Port Isabel Road. The funeral mass will be today, Monday February 9, 2015 at 2 pm at St. Luke Catholic Church and interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers representing each one of her daughters will be Rey Castillo, Fernando Cabrera Jr., Alex Alanis, Xavier Altamirano Jr., Mario Calderon Jr., Brandon Chong, Guadalupe Medrano (Reyna Ybarra), Jose Angel Cisneros (Viviana Ybarra), and Guadalupe Nevarez (Juanita Ybarra). Honorary pallbearers will be her sons Jose Ybarra, Ozzy Ybarra, and Reynaldo Ybarra.
