Juan G. Big John Hernandez, Jr., 76, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, July 8, 2009.
He was a devoted husband and father. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 in Germany. He was a dedicated fireman for 36 years with the Brownsville Fire Dept. He leaves behind his family and friends, who will cherish his memory forever. We love and will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvira Hernandez and Juan G. Hernandez, Sr., sister, Gloria Hernandez Cadriel, and a niece, Hermelinda Hernandez.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Maricela Hernandez, son, Juan Carlos Hernandez, daughter, Elizabeth Hernandez, brothers, Rogerio Hernandez and Carlos Hernandez, and a sister Elida Hernandez.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2009 at Trevino Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at St. Lukes Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Buena Vista Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be David Hinojosa, Victor Alfaro, Juan Alfaro, Ben Nunez, Bob Vera and Ralph Moncivaiz. Honorary pallbearers will be Brownsville Fire Department.
