Juan Jose Cantu, 57, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 at Bella Villa surrounded by his loving family after a brief but valiant battle against cancer.

Juan Jose was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Juan Jose worked for various local entities as a Security Guard. At the time of his passing, Juan Jose was working for the Brownsville Police Department as a Traffic Warden. Juan Jose loved spending time with family and friends but his favorite pastime was fishing; and every Saturday found him on the way to his favorite fishing hole. Juan Jose was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.

Juan Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Concepcion Garza and Rafael Cantu Sr., and a brother, Rene Cantu.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Juan Jose are his three children: Michelle Cantu, Juan Jose Cantu Jr. and Juan Enrique Cantu; the 2 granddaughters that were his pride and joy, Ahilyn Reyna and Leylani Acosta; two brothers, Rafael Cantu Jr. and Carlos (Eva) Cantu; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 12 Noon and continue through 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in the North Chapel at Treviño Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2645 Tulipan Street, Brownsville, TX. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
