It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Joe P. Saenz, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all on Friday September 9, 2022.

Joe was a shining light in this world and we will continue shining his light carrying it with us in our own lives. Please join us for a celebration of his Life at Treviño Funeral Home Old Port Isabel Rd.

Joe is proceeded in death by his son, David Saenz, father, Joe Saenz, mother, Guadalupe Saenz, and brother, Oscar Saenz. He is survived by his lovely wife, Maria Elena Saenz having celebrated 66 years of marriage: his sons Jose Luis (Norma); Jose Omar (Ida); Daughter-in-law, Marie; George (Norma); and Daniel (Carla). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Steven Michael (Jessica): Elise (Clarissa); Brandon; Victoria (Erick), Jason Luis; Ian Lestat; Carlos; Sophia Briana, and Sebastian Alejandro.

Joe and his wife Maria Elena, owned Saenz Cleaners since 1985, taking over after his father retired from running the business. Joe worked with the City of Brownsville, where he retired as a Fireman after 30 years. He was also a member of the Army National Guard and Coast Guard for 19 years. Besides his wife, his sons, and grandchildren, Joe’s passion was ranching and golf thus a member of the Pan American Golf Association (also known as PAGA).

Celebration of Life will be from 12 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, with a Holy Rosary at 7 pm in the North Chapel of Trevino Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 8:15 am to 9:15 am on Thursday, September 15, 2022, Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am at St. Luke Catholic Church on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Rite of committal will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
