Josefina Casas Parra, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at the age of 99 in Brownsville, Texas. Born on March 9, 1926, in Mexico, Josefina led a full life that was marked by her love and dedication to her family.
Josefina is survived by her beloved children: Norberto (Maria) Parra Jr., Rosa Villarreal, Nora (Lorenzo) Robles, Josie (Ruben) Martinez, Jovita (Oscar) Martinez, and Osvaldo (Kathleen) Parra. She found great joy in her role as a grandmother to 14 grandchildren, a great-grandmother to 20 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother to three great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she will be deeply missed by them all. She also leaves behind her brother, Guillermo Casas, along with other family members who held her dear.
Josefina is preceded in death by her husband, Norberto Parra, her parents Fernando and Maria De Jesus Casas, two grandsons, Salvador Villarreal and Austin Parra and siblings, Jesus Casas, Antonio Casas, Eliza Astrain, Tomas Casas and Socorro Hernandez.
Josefina was known for her calm and reserved personality. Her caring and loving nature made her a treasured figure among her family and friends. She enjoyed taking care of her plants, was an excellent cook, and loved traveling to Zacatecas, where she created many fond memories with her family.
Josefina’s pallbearers will be Fernando Casas, Leo Galvan, Hector Martinez, Ruben Martinez, Osvaldo Parra, Cesar Robles, Trey Robles and Salvador Villarreal.
A series of services will be held to honor Josefina’s life. Visitation will take place at Trevino Funeral Home-Old Port Isabel Rd. in Brownsville on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Trevino Funeral Home from 8:15 AM to 9:30 AM. A Mass will follow at Holy Family Church in Brownsville at 10:00 AM, concluding with burial at Buena Vista Burial Park at 11:00 AM.

Josefina Casas Parra, una querida madre, abuela y amiga, falleció pacíficamente el 23 de enero de 2026, a la edad de 99 años en Brownsville, Texas. Nacida el 9 de marzo de 1926 en México, Josefina llevó una vida plena que estuvo marcada por su amor y dedicación a su familia.
A Josefina le sobreviven sus queridos hijos: Norberto (Maria) Parra Jr., Rosa Villarreal, Nora (Lorenzo) Robles, Josie (Ruben) Martínez, Jovita (Oscar) Martínez y Osvaldo (Kathleen) Parra. Encontró una gran alegría en su papel de abuela de 14 nietos, bisabuela de 20 bisnietos y tatarabuela de tres tataranietos. Su familia era su orgullo y alegría, y todos ellos la extrañarán profundamente. También deja atrás a su hermano, Guillermo Casas, junto con otros miembros de la familia que la aprecian.

Josefina era conocida por su personalidad tranquila y reservada. Su naturaleza cariñosa y amorosa la convirtió en una figura preciada entre su familia y amigos. Disfrutaba cuidando sus plantas, era una excelente cocinera y le encantaba viajar a Zacatecas, donde creó muchos buenos recuerdos con su familia.

Se celebrará una serie de servicios para honrar la vida de Josefina. La visita tendrá lugar en Trevino Funeral Home-Old Port Isabel Rd. en Brownsville el martes 27 de enero de 2026, de 2:00 p. m. a 9:00 p. m., con un Rosario a las 6:00 p. m. La visita adicional se llevará a cabo el miércoles 28 de enero de 2026 en la funeraria Trevino de 8:15 a 9:30 a. m. Seguirá una misa en la Iglesia de la Sagrada Familia en Brownsville a las 10:00 a. m., que concluirá con el entierro en el Parque Burial de Buena Vista a las 11:00 a. m.
