Jose Macario Vega entered into eternal rest on January 12, 2021 at the age of seventy-nine years. Macario proudly served in the United States Army and was a combat veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal of Honor for his meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces. Macario was very proud to have served his country.
Macario was born in Los Fresnos, Texas on January 2, 1942 to parents Andres C. and Nicolasa S. Vega.
Macario is preceded in death by his parents: Andres C. and Nicolasa S. Vega and his sister, Maria de la Luz Vega and his brother Vicente Espinoza.
Macario is survived by his wife Maria R. Vega and is survived by his seven children, Christina (Basilio III) Alvear, John “Pepe” (Alicia) Vega, Jesus “Jesse” (Yvonne) Vega, Jose Macario (Martha) Vega, II, Erica Patricia (Georgios) Moros, Priscilla (Christopher) Douglas, and Daniel (Kristin) Vega.
Macario has fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
Also to treasure many memories are his six siblings: Andres Vega, Jr., Maria Esparza, Brigida “Nena” Dominguez, Antonio Vega, Anita Vega, and Alfredo Vega.
