Jose Luis Guerra Sr. passed away on January 5th, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Jose Luis Guerra served in the Army National Guard for seven years, while enrolled in high school and then served 20 years in the United States Army before retiring as an E7 after 27 years of honorable military service, where he then pursued a College Degree in Business Administration.
He was a member of St. Marys Parish and volunteered with St. Marys Works of Mercy, in the food pantry.
Preceded in death by his parents Maria Guerra, Jose and Natividad Guerra, his brothers Santos Galvan, Pedro Galvan, Manuel Galvan, Andres Garcia and his sister Josefina Ramirez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carolina Tapia Guerra, his daughter Norma GuerraValdez Joe, his sons Jose Luis Guerra Jr. and Francisco Guerra. His grandchildren Beau Jason Guerra, Samantha Guerra, Jose Guerra III, Ryan Guerra, Elysha Guerra and Mathew Guerra. His greatgrandchildren Isabella Guerra, Emily Guerra, Elyse Guerra, Osiris Aguirre and Emma Guerra and also, his only remaining sister Idolina Camacho and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation 1pm to 9pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in the South Chapel with Rosary at 7pm. Funeral 10am on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at St. Marys Catholic Church following interment at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Military Honors will be conducted by members of VFW Post 35.
