James Anthony Taylor, born on January 31, 1950, in High Point, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in Brownsville, Texas, on November 2, 2025. He was a man whose larger-than-life personality impacted all who had the privilege to know him.

James led a rich and fulfilling life, marked by a remarkable career that began when he served 10 honorable years in the Coast Guard. He then worked 10 years in the Merchant Marines as a radio officer on ships that traveled across the globe. After years of exploration, James settled in Brownsville with his beloved family, where he transitioned to a successful career as a realtor.

James was not only focused on his work; he was a devoted family man who took great pride in caring for his loved ones. He is survived by his cherished wife, Raquel Taylor, and their three children: James J. Taylor “J.J.”, Jean D. Taylor, and Matthew P. Taylor (Sandy Palomino). James also adored his two grandchildren, Isaac Palomino and Natalia Palomino. He is also remembered fondly by his brother, Bruce Taylor, his cousin, Kathi O’Brien Cicak, numerous nieces and nephews and lastly, his fur baby, Kali.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Casper Taylor and Mary Narcena O’Brien, as well as siblings Eugene “Gene”, and Joseph Taylor. Their memories will forever be cherished as part of the rich tapestry of his life.

James was an avid sports enthusiast, excelling in all sports. He found joy in golfing, playing poker, and baseball, activities that brought joy to his life. His laid-back yet hardworking nature made him approachable and genuine. He had an ability to connect with people, and his generous spirit meant he often looked after those around him. James helped everyone in his family at some point in his life, whether it was helping raise his nieces and nephews, or offering financial support, a place to stay or even a shoulder to cry on. He was always there for his family to lean on in time of need. He truly was their hero.

Visitation services will be held at Trevino Funeral Home-Old Port Isabel Rd. location in Brownsville, Texas, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with Military Honors to follow starting at 3:30 PM.

May James Anthony Taylor rest in eternal peace. He will be missed dearly, and his legacy will live on through those he loved and cared for.
