Ismael Chavez, 76, entered into eternal life at his residence, Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in Brownsville, TX.
Mr. Chavez was a Korean War veteran. He was employed by Kress Dept. Store, Woolco, Gibsons, and Drug Emporium as a retail clerk. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father, Margarito Chavez, mother, Julia Lopez Chavez, brothers, Hector Jaramillo and Joe Chavez, sister, Olivia Ray.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 39 years, Emerica Pequeno Chavez, children; Nancy Henry Arambula, Susana Chavez of Brownsville, TX, Ronnie Chavez, Eddie Chavez, Judy Chapa, Diana Singletary of Houston, TX, and 15 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-laws, Antonia Betancourt, Irene Tony Garcia, Estela Salas, Juan Norma Pequeno, Josie Ruben Esparza, Fernando Gloria Pequeno of Brownsville, TX, and Elena Quintero of Ewa Beach, Hawaii and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Sharma and staff from Texas Oncology, Valley Regional Medical Center and the Oddesy Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2009 at Trevino Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at St. Lukes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Fabian Garay, Michael Arambula, Henry Arambula, Chris Esparza, Ruben Esparza, Tony Garcia, Juan Pequeno and Juan Carlos Betancourt.
