The world gained another Angel today, February 7, 2013 Imelda G. Gunnoe has passed after a brief and fierce battle with cancer. She entered into eternal rest and is now at peace after being diagnosed in October.
She left behind three great sons and five beautiful grandchildren to carry on her memory. Imelda was a loving Mother, Aunt, and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family every chance she would get.
Her main focus after retiring from B.I.S.D in May was to enjoy her retirement with her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She loved children of all ages so much that even on her Sundays off she would dedicate her time to caring for infants at the Church of Advent of Elizabeth St.
She was also involved for many years in the St Luke Catholic Church C.C.D. program. Imelda touched the lives of many as she was always an honest and caring person towards others going out of her way to help anyone she could.
She is survived by her three sons Andrew Charles Gunnoe Diana, Mark Anthony Gunnoe, and Christopher John Gunnoe Marlen her grandchildren Andrew F. Vaughn, Melissa D. Gunnoe, Yndirita A. Gunnoe, Christopher J. Gunnoe II, and Marlene T.Gunnoe brothers Eloy Garcia and Hector Garcia sisters Brunilda Villarreal David and Maria Teresa Saldana Abel.
Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carlos Z. Garcia and Enriqueta M. Garcia.
Visitation will begin 4pm today Sunday February 10, 2013 at Trevino funeral Home North chapel with a Rosary service at 7pm.
Memorial Mass will be 4pm Monday at St. Luke Catholic church, 2800 Rockwell Dr., Brownsville, TX . 78521.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Haven Hospice Home or to The Catholic Charities.
