Ignacio R. Garcia, 88, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Valley Regional Hospital.
He was born on July 26, 1929 in Houston, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Brownsville, Texas.
Ignacio began working at an early age at McNair and Company. In 1975, he owned and operated the Port Isabel Barber Shop until his retirement in 2010. He lived a long, blessed life that revolved around his family and home. He left them a legacy of love, respect, faith and gratitude to God Almighty.
Ignacio is survived by his loving wife of 65 years of marriage Francisca Avila Garcia and five children; Lydia Gasper (Javier), Eduardo Garcia, (Laverne), Amelia Isbell (Robert), Mario Ramiro Garcia (Debra) and Jose Ignacio Garcia (Ida); eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Josefina Hernandez.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, one grandson (Billy Garcia) and one great-grandson (Deagan Garcia).
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the South Chapel at Trevino Funeral Home. A Holy Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Immaculate Cathedral Church following burial to Buena Vista Burial Park, located at 125 McDavitt.
