Helen McCray Ceyanes, born July 11, 1918, in Keosauqua, IA, peacefully embraced our Lord on October 25, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 68 years.
She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1940 and received her Masters Degree from Texas A I in 1966.
Helen taught elementary school at Trinity Lutheran School and in the Brownsvill School District from 1953 until 1988. She was an avid bird watcher and nature lover. She loved to locate and identify the local flowers and trees on all of her trips. She visited every county courthouse in the state of Texas and every state capital except Alaska. Helen joined the first docent class for Gladys Porter Zoo in 1971 and served faithfully.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tino, her brother, Warren McCray, and her grandson Adam Ceyanes. She is survived by her three children, Nito Ceyanes Karen, Bob Ceyanes Suzy, Jean Cruz Eddie, 7 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren and 1 greatgreat grandchild. She also leaves behind several special dear friends who were always there for her.
Memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 901 Boca Chica Blvd., Brownsville, TX on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 3 p.m.

Funeral services are under the direction of Trevio Funeral Home in Brownsville, 1355 Old Port Isabel Road.
