Gumecindo Gutierrez, 78, of Brownsville, Texas, retired owner of G-N-R Welding and businessman, died Sunday, November 1st, 2015 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
He is preceded in death by his spouse Maria Gutierrez and his oldest Son, Special Investigator (Brownsville Police Department) Ruben Gutierrez and his sisters Bertha Gutierrez and Gloria Cortez.
Born in Brownsville, Texas on 24 Oct 1937, he lived and worked here his entire life. He married Maria Guerrero of La Grulla, Texas in May 1958 and had three children together. He served briefly in the United States Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in March 1964. He worked then managed the former Western Auto before starting his own business. He owned and operated G-N-R Welding with his oldest son until he retired in 1997. He is survived by a son, Colonel (Retired) Eduardo Gutierrez of Killeen Texas, his daughter, Graciela Gutierrez Taliancich of Brownsville Texas, Daughter in law Sylvia H. Gutierrez of San Benito, Texas, Brother Marcelo Gutierrez of Brownsville, Texas. He also charged his family to raise, care for and cherish his 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren whom he adored.
Of special note, a very heartfelt thank you to Sylvia Gutierrez and her family Ruben Gutierrez Jr. and Sheena Gutierrez for the love, devotion and care they personally provided Gumecindo over the last six years. Their love and caring provided him with a quality of life that is difficult to obtain without this type of caring family. We are forever indebted to you -thank you.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 3,2015, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Wednesday, November 4,2015 at 10:00 am. Burial Will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
