Guadalupe Hinojosa, 87, of Brownsville, Texas went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on January 27, 2017. She was surrounded by her beloved family. Lupe was preceded in death by her husband, Epigmenio (Pime) Hinojosa; parents, Manuel and Antonia Medrano; and brother Joe Medrano.
Lupe is survived by her son, Douglas (Norma) Hinojosa, and daughters, Monica (Jim) Telese, and Diana (Bryan) Nicholson as well as grandchildren, Joey, Jennifer, Vanessa,
Veronica, Mychael, Alec; great-grandchildren Hailey, Leilah, and James Douglas; sisters Beatriz Streun and Maria Benavidez, and brother Manuel Medrano.
Lupe was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She worked for many years as a substitute teacher for BISD and was recognized for her commitment to schools and the community. She began her education at El Jardin School, where she was salutatorian and graduated from R & M Business School in Brownsville. After all of her children had completed their university education, she went back to college and graduated from Pan American University with Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. She loved good food, socializing, bowling, playing scrabble and spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 9 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Trevino Funeral Home Southmost with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church on Tuesday,January 31, 2017 followed by burial at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Manuel Medrano, Bryan Nicholson, Joey Lopez, Cody Faulk, James Ontiveros and Jim Telese. Honorary Pallbearer will be Gordon Hockaday.
