Guadalupe Gomez, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 9, 2025, in his hometown of Brownsville, Texas. Born on December 28, 1939, Guadalupe filled his life with joy and happiness, touching the lives of many with his warm personality.
Guadalupe is survived by his devoted wife, Socorro D. Gomez, along with their three beloved children: Maria Elena Gomez, Guadalupe Gomez Jr., and Eduardo Gomez. He is also cherished by his eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love. His siblings, Aurora Rodriguez and Aurelio Gomez, also mourn his passing.
Guadalupe loved decorating for the holidays, which brought joy to those around him. A devoted sports fan, he could often be found cheering for the Washington Redskins and the Atlanta Braves, sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aurelio Gomez and Rita Gonzalez, his son Gilberto Gomez, his brothers, Felix Ortiz and Joe Gonzalez, as well as his sister: Eva Bazan.
Services for Guadalupe will be held at Trevino Funeral Home- Old Port Isabel Rd., located at 1355 Old Port Isabel Rd. in Brownsville, Texas. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The following day, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, visitation will resume from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. A Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., leading to a burial at Buena Vista Burial Park at 11:00 a.m.
