Griselda Morales Lopez, affectionately known as Kiki, went home to Jesus on April 14, 2026. She was 86 years of age, born on the 25th of November, 1939, in Brownsville, Texas, daughter of the late Joe P. Morales and Carlota Cuellar Morales. She is also predeceased by her husbands, Joe Galvan and Jose Luis Lopez, her nephew, Brandon Carlos Brown, and her brothers-in-law, Gilberto Gomez and Brad Philips.
She is survived by her daughter, Aracely Lopez (Carlos), her grandchildren, Brandon Matthew Garcia, Brianna Nicole Garcia, Melanie Elizabeth Jonovic, Megan MaKayla Jonovic and Madison Renee Correa.
She is also survived by her siblings, Gracie Morales Gomez, Sylvia Morales Phillips and Joe Morales (Martha), along with many treasured nieces and nephews.
Kiki was educated at Villa Maria High School and was a graduate of the class of 1959. Building on her education, she went on to excel in marketing and accounting for several companies.
Kiki’s talents extended beyond her professional accomplishments. It was obvious that she was a very talented artist from a very young age. She often spoke of her dad teaching her songs, some that would have needed a “Parental Advisory” label, LOL. That was Kiki! She could sing every style of music with immense versatility, but she especially enjoyed singing Huapangos. Her voice soared into a crystalline falsetto, sustaining the high note with much emotion and intensity. Music was her refuge, a companion that never left her side.
Despite her many talents, Kiki’s happy place was with her grandchildren. Each moment with them was precious – truly, they were her heartbeat.
In addition to music and family, she found joy in cooking and baking, especially treasuring recipes handed down to her by her Mama Tito.
Her vibrant energy was also evident in social settings, where Kiki was truly the life of a party. Her bubbly personality brought a whole new level of fun to a gathering.
Though her voice may have fallen silent, the essence of who she was will live on in our hearts forever.
(A memorial service in her honor will be announced at a later time.)
