It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Gilma Ileana Castaneda entered into eternal rest on July 10th, 2026, at the age of sixty-four years old. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

She was born in Mexico and spent most of her life in Brownsville, Texas. Her dedication and love for her family will never be forgotten. She was a devout Catholic, deeply honored Our Lady of Guadalupe, visited the San Juan Basilica often and spent most of her time with her beloved husband. She was a proud grandma.

Gilma Ileana is preceded in death by her father Teodoro Passement and her beloved husband, Emilio Javier Castañeda.

Family survived to treasure many memories is her mother, Olga Passement, and three children; Gilma I. Castañeda (Royel Garcia), Xavier (Brandi) Castañeda, Emilio Thedoro (Julian Gonzalez) Castañeda, four grandchildren; Penelope Garcia, Simon Castañeda, Mitzi Castañeda and Royel Alejandro Garcia, and three brothers and a sister; Teodoro Passement, Javier Passement, Leticia (Armando) Hernandez and Hugo Passement.

Visitation is on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, from 2 pm to 9 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7 pm Trevino Funeral Home. Visitation resumes Thursday, July 16th, 2026, from 8:15 am to 2 pm with a scheduled chapel service at 2 pm. The burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens by 3 pm.

Es con un profundo pesar y con el corazón lleno de tristeza, que anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra amada hija, hermana, madre, abuela, tia y amiga. Gilma Ileana Castañeda entro en el descanso eterno el 10 de Julio del año 2026, a la edad de sesenta y cuatro años. Se va extrañar por su familia y amistades.

Nació en Mexico y paso la mayor parte de su vida en Brownsville, Texas. La dedicación y amor por su familia nunca será olvidado. Gilma era una Católica devota, profundamente honraba a nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, visitaba frecuente la Basilica de San Juan y pasaba la mayor parte del tiempo con su amado esposo. Era orgullosa de ser abuela.

Visitación es el Miercoles, 15 de Julio de 2026, de 2 pm a 9 pm con un rosario a las 7 pm en la Funeraria Treviño. Visitación resume el Jueves, 16 de Julio de 2026 de 8:15 am a 2 pm con un servicio en la capilla a las 2 pm. Suiguerá la sepultura en el panteón Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens para las 3 pm.
