Gilberto S. Olvera, 86, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 07, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 31, 1930 to Alberto Olvera and Pilar Salinas in La Sara, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Ofelia Rodriguez.
Mr. Olvera was a lifetime resident of Brownsville; a member of San Eugenio Catholic Church and retired Union Pacific Railroad member. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria Luisa Rios Olvera; his sister Guadalupe Olvera; his children Juana Campbell, Rosario Zavala, Manuel Olvera, Sandra Olvera Nava, Jesus Olvera, Lucia Resendez and Karen De Leon. Also, to treasure many memories are his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the North Chapel at Trevino Funeral Home located at 1355 Old Port Isabel Road, in Brownsville, Texas 78521.
The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at San Eugenio de Mazenod Catholic Church. Committal service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are; Ysael Olvera, Mauricio Garcia, Miguel Nava, Sebastian Nava, Roberto Olvera, Gilberto Olvera, Jesse Robert Olvera Jr., Richard Zavala and Lionel Campbell.
