Francisco Sauceda, a dedicated educator and passionate advocate for students, passed away on November 13, 2024, in Brownsville, Texas. He was born on October 7,1966, where he spent his life nurturing the minds of future generations through his roles as a paraprofessional, teacher, and administrator with the Brownsville Independent School District.
Francisco's commitment to education was matched only by his passion for building relationships with his students. His impact on those he taught was profound; he was often greeted by ex-students and colleagues who fondly recalled the positive influence he had on their lives. His ability to connect with everyone left a lasting impression and created a supportive learning environment that many cherished. In recent years, Francisco served as the Executive Director of Placement Services for Teacher Builder, a family business that allowed him to continue his mission of helping educators while working alongside loved ones.
Outside of his career, Francisco had a multitude of interests that showcased his vibrant personality. He was a devoted fan of rock and roll music, frequently immersing himself in the sounds of legendary bands such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Alice in Chains. This love extended to his everyday activities, whether he was driving to work, cycling, or just unwinding at home. Francisco was also a devoted sports fan, passionately watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns on weekends. His commitment to fitness was evident in his love for bike riding, having recently completed an impressive 300-mile ride for a fundraiser benefiting the American Cancer Society. A lover of science and nature, Francisco had an insatiable curiosity about the world around him. He particularly enjoyed learning about animals and environmental sciences, fostering a deep appreciation for nature that he often shared with those close to him. He cherished time spent with his children, Christina, Christopher, and Marcus, especially when they visited him or during his trips to Austin, Texas. He also found joy in sharing life with his partner Joanna Gonzalez and their beloved dogs: Layla, Chibi, Tito, and Luna.
Francisco is survived by his beloved daughter, Christina Sauceda, and sons, Christopher Sauceda and Marcus Sauceda. He is also remembered by his partner, Joanna Gonzalez, and siblings Ezequiel Minerva Sauceda Jr., Hector J. Michelle Sauceda, and Dr. Noe Magda Sauceda, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Yolanda Brito Sauceda, father, Ezequiel Sauceda, and brothers Robert A. Sauceda and David L. Sauceda, along with his faithful pet, Staley Sauceda.
A memorial service will be held on November 30, 2024, at Trevino Funeral Home in Brownsville, Texas, with visitors welcomed from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Further services will take place at the same location later that afternoon.
