Estela A. Skill, was born on September 12, 1924, in Mexico City, and entered her eternal rest in Brownsville, Texas, on November 9, 2025. During her youth in Mexico City, she received a degree in Chemical Pharmacology with majors in chemistry and biology from the University of Mexico City. After she married her second husband, her family moved to Brownsville, where she used her knowledge and skills by working at Mercy Hospital, USDA, and Valley Baptist Hospital. Later in her life she opened the Skill Shoe Repair Shop, where she proudly served her customers for many years until she retired around 2009.
She lived a long and fruitful life, cherishing her family and instilling in them a deep love and reverence for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Estela leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, as she is survived by her children, Estela Garcia Taylor (Zachary), Enrique Alvarez Garcia (Elizabeth Zofinska), Caroline Skill, Edward Skill (Elizabeth Searle), and Linda Skill Egan (Michael). Estela’s family also includes five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who have been blessed by her warmth and kindness.
Estela was preceded in death by her first husband, Enrique Garcia Caballero, and her second husband, Rudolfs Skill.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Trevino Funeral Home in Brownsville, Texas, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 2:00 PM. Following the visitation, a chapel service will take place at the same location from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Estela will then be laid to rest in a burial service at Buena Vista Burial Park, commencing at 3:00 PM.
May Estela rest in eternal peace, remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
