Erasmo Ruiz Jr., 61, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017, at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX surrounded by his loving family.
Erasmo was born to Erasmo and Irma G. Ruiz in Brownsville, TX. He graduated from Gladys Porter High School in 1976 and attended Laredo Jr. College and Texas A&I. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1976 to 1979. Erasmo started his career with the U.S. Border Patrol from 1984 to 2003 and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection from 2003 to 2012. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Juan Gomez and Prima Arrizmendi Gomez of California and his parents Erasmo Ruiz Sr. and Irma Gomez.
Erasmo is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Alma Bunque Ruiz; his son Jose Erasmo Ruiz; his daughters Jeanette Ruiz-Bodkin, Natasha Rosal Ruiz-Flores; grandchildren Aiden Ruiz, Allonna Bodkin, Dylahn Bodkin and Zoey Bodkin; step-mom Maria Griselda Ruiz; his brothers Julio Ruiz, Frank Ruiz, Reynaldo Ruiz; nephews Julio Ruiz Jr., Eduardo Ruiz, Aldo Ruiz, Reynaldo Ruiz Jr., Joe Anthony Ruiz, Micheal Ruiz; half siblings Irma Mason, Antonia Cervantes and Jose Abelard Cervantes; step-brothers and sisters Martha Molina, Elsa Laura Chavez-Wooten, Ernesto Chavez; uncle and aunts Jose Gomez, Herminia Gomez-Vance, David and Laura Gomez.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017. Military Honors under the direction of VFW Post #2035 will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. followed with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home, 1355 Old Port Isabel Rd. All services will conclude that evening.
