Enrique R. Villarreal passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in San Antonio, TX. Heaven has received a Great Man!

Enrique Villarreal Rodríguez was born in La Villa de Santa Maria, Amealco, Querétaro, Mexico, on August 12, 1928. He was the son of Enrique Villarreal Fragoso and Maria Del Pilar Rodriguez. His birth name was Fortino Raul Enrique Villarreal. He was the son of Mexican parents and the grandson on his father's side of Enrique Villarreal and Carlota Fragoso Blear and on his mother's side Faustino E. Rodriguez and Filomena Rodriguez.

Kike, as his immediate family affectionately called him, grew up in Querétaro with his father, mother, two brothers, and three sisters. He also lived in Matamoros and Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas. Enrique eventually moved to the United States and after several years became a United States citizen.

On August 7, 1960, Enrique married Maria Hermelinda (Linda) Quintero at Our Lady of Refuge Cathedral in Matamoros. They moved to Los Angeles, CA, where their first three children were born: Linda Pilar, Enrique "Nene" Jr., and Rosamaría (Rosie) Villarreal. They later moved to Brownsville, TX, where their twins, Juan Carlos and Roberto Xavier Villarreal, were born.

Enrique was a son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend to many. He was a lifelong resident of Brownsville and spent his later years with his daughters in Spring Branch and San Antonio, TX.

Our beloved dad was a tender and loving man, yet strong and capable. A hardworking man, always generous with his children. He had an exemplary character, always physically and mentally healthy. He lived to be 96, almost reaching 97, and along the way, he met many people who came to enjoy his warm personality and beautiful smile. He was loved by many! He loved dancing, horses, and farming. He owned and operated a farm in Mexico for many years. It was his hobby. When he retired from his job in insurance, he became an entrepreneur, buying rental properties.

But his most significant devotion was to his children. He was very proud of their accomplishments; he gave two soldiers to the United States Army. The eldest, Linda Pilar became an entrepreneur, Rosie founded "Love for Paws Rescue Center" in San Antonio, TX, Juan Carlos retired from the Army as a Sergeant Major, and Roberto Xavier retired from the Army as Chief Warrant Officer 5, MH60 Blackhawk Pilot. Together, he and his wife dedicated themselves to raising their oldest grandson, Miguel Roald Olivares III, who currently works for MD Anderson as a computer technician and systems analyst.

Preceding Enrique in death were his parents, his wife Linda Villarreal, his beloved son Enrique "Nene" Jr. Villarreal, his precious granddaughter Mannality (Amy) Otri, his brothers Carlos (Astrid) Villarreal, Roberto A (Adelita) Villarreal and sisters Berta (Luis) Hernandez, Rebecca (Humberto) Zamorano and Carolina (Jorge) Cabello.

Survivors include his children; Linda Pilar (Morgan) Perkins, Rosamaria (David) Garza, Juan Carlos (Lisa) Villarreal, and Roberto Xavier Villarreal. His grandchildren; Miguel Roald (Manuela) Olivares III, Mousa (Mose) Otri Haysany, CeaVanna Cierra Villarreal and Sidney Lee Villarreal, Carlos and Julianne Christine Villarreal, David (Ashley) Garza Jr., and Kimberly (Michael) Cervantes. His great-grandchildren; Enrique Nicolas and Nahila Eva Olivares, Caroline Lynn Garza, August Ray and Emory Grace Cervantes; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family members. Not to be forgotten is his beloved dog, the precious, Ms. Ruby.

The dearly loved, respected and overall great man, Mr. Enrique takes with him our great affection and esteem. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. To his children, he was a great hero—but more than that, he was a great dad! You'll always be in our hearts, Dad. We miss you already!

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Treviño Funeral Home-Old Port Isabel Rd., with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas St. Luke's 2749.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 25, 2025 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive, Brownsville, Texas, followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel, Rd, Brownsville, Texas 78526.

Enrique R. Villarreal, pasó a su vida eterna el martes 18 de marzo de 2025 en San Antonio, TX. El Cielo ha recibido un Gran Señor!

Enrique Villarreal Rodriguez nació en La Villa de Santa Maria, Amealco, Querétaro, México el 12 de agosto de 1928; Hijo de Enrique Villarreal Fragoso y Maria Del Pilar Rodriguez. Su nombre de Nacimiento fue Fortino Raul Enrique Villarreal. Fue hijo de padres mexicanos y nieto en línea paterna de Enrique Villarreal y Carlota Fragoso Blear y por la línea materna de Faustino E. Rodriquez y Filomena Rodriguez.

Kike, como le llamaba cariñosamente su familia inmediata, creció en Querétaro con su padre, madre, 2 hermanos y 3 hermanas. También vivió en Matamoros y Valle Hermoso Tamaulipas. Enrique eventualmente se mudo a los Estados Unidos y después de varios años se convirtió en ciudadano de los Estados Unidos.

El 7 de agosto de 1960 Enrique se casó con Maria Hermelinda (Linda) Quintero en la Catedral Nuestra Señora del Refugio en Matamoros. Se mudaron a Los Ángeles, CA, donde nacieron sus primeros tres hijos: Linda Pilar, Enrique "Nene" Jr. y Rosamaría (Rosie) Villarreal.Más tarde se mudaron a Brownsville, TX y nacieron sus gemelos Juan Carlos y Roberto Xavier Villarreal.

Enrique era hijo, esposo, papá, abuelo, bisabuelo, tío, hermano, primo y amigo de muchos. El fue un residente de Brownsville por casi toda la vida y vivió sus últimos años con sus hijas en Spring Branch y San Antonio, TX. 

Nuestro querido papá era un señor tierno y cariñoso y a la vez fuerte y capaz. Un Don trabajador y siempre generoso con sus hijos.Fue de carácter ejemplar con un físico y una mente sana siempre.Vivió 96 años casi llegando a los 97 y por su camino conoció mucha gente que llegó a disfrutar su calidad personalidad y su hermosa sonrisa. Fue amado por muchos!!Le encantaba bailar, los caballos y la agricultura.Fue dueño y mantuvo un rancho en México por muchos años. Era su "Hobby".Cuando se jubiló de su trabajo en Seguros, se convirtió en un empresario comprando propiedades de renta. 

Pero su devoción más significativa eran sus hijos. El estaba muy orgulloso de sus logros; le dio dos soldados al Ejército de los Estados Unidos. La mayor Linda Pilar se convirtió en empresaria, Rosie, fundó "Love for Paws Rescue Center" en San Antonio TX, Juan Carlos se retiró del Ejército como Sargento Mayor y Roberto Xavier se retiró del Ejército como Suboficial Jefe 5, MH60 Blackhawk Pilot. Entre él y su esposa se dedicaron a criar a su nieto mayor Miguel Roald Olivares III, quien actualmente trabaja para MD Anderson como técnico informático y analista de sistemas.

Precediendo a Enrique en la muerte estaban sus padres, su esposa Linda Villarreal, su querido hijo Enrique "Nene" Jr. Villarreal, su preciosa nieta Mannality (Amy) Otri, sus hermanos Carlos (Astrid) Villarreal, Roberto A (Adelita) Villarreal y hermanas Berta (Luis) Hernandez, Rebecca (Humberto) Zamorano y Carolina (Jorge) Cabello.

Los sobrevivientes incluyen sus hijos; Linda Pilar (Morgan) Perkins, Rosamaria (David) Garza, Juan Carlos (Lisa) Villarreal y Roberto Xavier Villarreal. Sus nietos; Miguel Roald (Manuela) Olivares III, Mousa (Mose) Otri Haysany, CeaVanna Cierra Villarreal y Sidney Lee Villarreal, Carlos y Julianne Christine Villarreal, David (Ashley) Garza Jr. y Kimberly (Michael) Cervantes. Sus bisnietos; Enrique Nicolas y Nahila Eva Olivares, Caroline Lynn Garza, August Ray y Emory Grace Cervantes; además de numerosos primos, sobrinas y sobrinos, y miembros de la familia extendida. Y no hay que olvidar a su querida perrita, La preciosa, Ruby.

El gran señor Enrique se lleva con él nuestro gran cariño y estimación. El será profundamente extrañado por todos los que tuvieron la suerte de haberlo conocido. Para sus hijos él fue un gran héroe - pero más que eso fue un gran papá! Siempre estarás en nuestro corazón papi. ¡¡Ya te extrañamos!!

El horario de visita se llevará a cabo el jueves 24 de abril de 2025 entre las 4:00 p.m. y las 9:00 p.m., en la Funeraria Treviño-Old Port Isabel Rd, con el rezo del santo rosario que comenzará a las 6:00 p.m. por la Corte de las Hijas Católicas de las Américas San Lucas 2749.

La misa fúnebre se celebrará a las 10:00 AM el viernes 25 de abril de 2025 en la Iglesia Católica St. Luke, 2800 Rockwell Drive, Brownsville, Texas, seguida de su entierro en Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel, Rd, Brownsville, Texas 78526.
