Elsa Elena Barrera

Elsa Elena Barrera, of Los Fresnos, TX passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, TX.  She was in the presence of her loving family. Elsa was a loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of those around her. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Elsa especially enjoyed her weekly Friday nights playing Mexican loteria with her sisters and niece. There was always food, laughter, and joking around the table. She also cherished her pastors and church family.

Elsa's warm presence will deeply be missed by all who knew her. Her spirit and memories will forever live on, those she leaves behind.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Barrera† and Elsa Rocha†, as well as her beloved son, James Cantu†.

Her surviving family members include her beloved son, Kevin Justin Cantu, along with her siblings Jose Barrera, Alejandro (Adriana) Barrera, Leticia (Robert) Betancourt, Ramiro (Melody) Barrera, Emeralda (Charles) Burnell, Gloria (Samuel) Euresti. Elsa also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart, Also extended family in Mexico and friends.

Visitation in her honor will take place on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a prayer service from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Services will conclude at 10:00 p.m.

As we gather to remember Elsa, let us celebrate the beautiful memories we shared with her. May we find solace in the love and support of one another during this difficult time. Elsa's legacy of kindness, warmth, and genuine love will forever be etched in our hearts.
