Elida R. Garcia

Elida de la Rosa Garcia, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the age of 90 years in her home in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by family. She was born on August 10, 1933, to her parents Santos de la Rosa and Cecilia Gracia. She grew up with sisters Francisca/Panchita, Augustina/Tina, Maria de la Luz/Lucita, and one brother Santos.

Elida will be missed by her family and friends and will always be remembered in our hearts.

Elida is preceded in death by her loving and dedicated husband Isidro Barrios Garcia, her parents Santos and Cecilia de la Rosa, her stepson Isidro Barrios, her sister Panchita (Miguel) Ruedas and brother Santos (Lupita) de la Rosa.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her sons Dr. Greg (Diana) Garcia, Joe A. (Nora) Garcia, and daughter Maria del Pilar (Raymond) Salinas; and her grandchildren Amanda (Steven and baby Diego) Reyna, Steven (Cynthia, babies Steven and Sophia) Garcia, Dr. Mark C. Garcia, Becky (sons Zeke and Ethan) Garcia, Keith Salinas, Kelly Salinas, Danny Joe (Ana and baby Ines) Garcia, Gina Garcia, Eric Garcia, Aaron Salinas, as well as extended family and friends.

The viewing will be held at 2 PM to 9 PM on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Treviño’s Funeral Home, followed by a rosary at 7 PM. Visitation resumes Monday, July 22, 2024 from 8:15 AM to 9 AM. Funeral mass will be held in Brownsville at Christ the King Catholic Church Monday, July 22, 2024, at 10 AM, followed by burial services at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens at 11 AM.

 Pallbearers are Steven Garcia, Dr. Mark C. Garcia, Keith Salinas, Danny Joe Garcia, Eric Garcia, and Aaron Salinas.
